Brand expansion for new Ginger Jack beverage Curcuma Jane.
WE GOT
VOTED INTO LOGOLOUNGE BOOK 14!
I remember graduating university back in 2008 and winning an RMIT Bookshop voucher as part of the best best portfolio award. With this voucher I then bought my first logo design showcase book.
I was always envious of the studio’s and artists featured in these books and I think since then it has always been an underlying dream of mine to one day maybe be featured myself.
Well today is that day!
After uploading I think 30+ designs from over the years back in April of 2023, I found out back in September that I was lucky enough to have not one, but TWO logos featured in LogoLounge Book 14 which has just now finally been released!
Burger Queen was actually designed back in 2021 in pen ink and paper before I made the transition to iPad. The challenge with this design was keeping the visual as far away as possible from the obvious competitor and so thinking of different applications of the word “Queen” my client loved the idea of playing on the ‘Burger Queen of Hearts’ direction. With that, the playing card queen holding the burger was born.
Sal-Y-Pimienta (Salt & Pepper in Spanish), was designed back in 2022. This food truck program was developed for the Spanish speaking community of the Colorado area as part of a local business school where they essentially teaching them how launch and run a food truck. My client has actually previously gone to Fiverr to have this logo designed and so with that failed attempt I was lucky to have him reach out and be able to develop this personality-driven mascot design with custom lettering that both fit the demographic as well as the service they offer.
INK & ELBOW GREASE Co. BRAND REFINEMENT
Along with the development of Greaseland, I also took the time to begin expanding my own brand assets and logo system.
The more noticeable additions were spurred adjustments to my G-Drip logomark, a new cursive wordmark and the addition of an electric blue accent to my colour palette along with refinements to my fonts and layout treatments.
As designers, taking pride in our own identities is so important to show we practice what we preach. After all, if you can’t design for yourself how can you design for someone else?

The adjustment of adding the spurs to the edges of my G-Drip logo represents several aspects of where I’m heading with my brand.
Firstly is the “Dare to Disrupt” mentality I promote to my clients. The previously smooth edges felt too “safe” where the biggest thing I offer to my clients is “poking the bear”. As I always aim to give my clients something to standout I felt like adding spurs gave my logo the perfect “disruption” it needed.
Secondly is its directional appearance. Having the spurs point both backward and forward represents the change and growth I foster in the work I do. Taking brands from just an idea and making them into something special for the people I work with is always my ultimate goal and I feel like this change successfully promotes what I do.
